Why Life Groups
Life Groups are where church becomes personal. Sundays gather us, but Life Groups grow us. In smaller settings we build real friendships, open the Bible together, pray honestly, and walk through life side by side. It is in these spaces that faith deepens, burdens are shared, and disciples are formed. If you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus and be known by others, Life Groups are one of the most important steps you can take.
Why Group Size Matters
Churches grow strong and healthy when people are deeply connected, not just attending on Sundays. The key to long term spiritual growth is not simply better preaching or better programmes. It is meaningful relationships built in small groups.
At Mosaic, we believe the same.
Groups Help People Stay
People rarely drift away from church because of theology. They drift when they feel unknown or unconnected.
Healthy Life Groups help people stick because they are known, prayed for, encouraged and challenged.
Strong relationships build strong disciples.
Why We Aim for 12+
We aim for a minimum of 12 adults in each Life Group.
Why?
Because life happens. Holidays, illness, work commitments and family responsibilities mean not everyone will attend every week. A group of 12 allows for healthy discussion numbers even when a few cannot make it.
It also creates:
• A strong atmosphere
• Energy in discussion
• Wider prayer support
• Broader life experience in the room
At the same time, we guard the relational depth of the group. Leaders are intentional about hearing from everyone and creating space for meaningful connection.
Size is not about numbers. It is about healthy participation.
Depth Over Division
In some church models, groups automatically split once they reach a certain number. In fact this was our model for a long time.
While multiplication is important, we believe leadership development is more important than forced division.
At Mosaic:
• Groups remain consistent rather than splitting automatically
• Leaders look for potential future leaders within their group
• When someone shows faithfulness, humility and maturity, leaders let Ben know
Growth happens through raising leaders, not managing numbers.
The Goal Is Not Smaller Groups
The Goal Is Stronger Disciples
Our aim is not simply to run meetings.
It is to build disciples who love Jesus, love one another, and live missionally in everyday life.
Healthy groups create belonging.
Belonging builds faithfulness.
Faithfulness builds lifelong disciples.
